We are seeking a Regional Talent Acquisition Specialist to lead and support recruitment efforts across our country programs in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Malawi. This position will serve as a process manager, ensuring that talent acquisition activities are executed successfully and efficiently throughout the East Africa region. The Specialist will work in close collaboration with Human Resources representatives in each country program, playing a pivotal role in meeting local hiring needs. In addition to supporting national recruitment, this role will also serve as the lead recruiter for regionally based positions.  

Key responsibilities include managing recruitment processes, identifying high-caliber candidates, optimizing hiring workflows, and ensuring a positive experience for both candidates and hiring managers. This role will engage regularly with leadership across East Africa and the United States. It is a full-time position reporting to the Talent Acquisition Manager in Charleston, South Carolina. This position may be based in Kenya or Uganda. 

A successful Regional Talent Acquisition Specialist will:

  • Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public.
  • Engage and participate in prayer before and after team meetings. 
  • Lead and participate in biblically based staff devotions.  
  • Perform lead recruitment functions for regionally based positions in East Africa or country-specific positions as needed
  • Understand hiring trends for each country program and make recommendations to maximize recruitment efforts.
  • Partner with HR Managers and hiring managers in country programs to understand recruitment needs and execute the proper recruitment strategies to reduce inefficiencies and improve time to fill and time to hire metrics
  • Execute full-cycle recruitment for assigned roles: job posting, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and hiring.
  • Partner with HR managers and hiring managers to ensure clear recruitment timelines are set. This includes tracking progress, ensuring timely hires, and communicating with all necessary stakeholders regarding delays.
  • Maintain or suggest creative sourcing strategies, including social media, networking, and partnerships with local organizations.
  • Proactively build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates by developing targeted sourcing strategies, engaging passive talent, collaborating with hiring managers to forecast workforce needs, and utilizing applicant tracking systems for effective pipeline management.
  • Ensure great candidate experience by communicating effectively, regularly, setting clear expectations, and streamlining processes.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to define job requirements to ensure alignment with organizational goals and standards.
  • Provide training and support to HR and hiring managers on recruitment practices.
  • Travel to country program offices as needed to provide training and support on TA.
  • Maintain accurate records in applicant tracking systems (ATS).
  • Monitor and report on recruitment performance, ensuring key hiring metrics are met.
  • Produce reports on hiring metrics and present to country leaders, regional leadership, or senior leadership as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned  

What is required?

  • Demonstrate biblical character and servant leadership by exhibiting the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)
  • Ability to travel regionally (within East Africa) up to 4 times per year for 5-10 days at a time. Must be able and willing to ride in cars for long periods over rough terrain. 
  • Fluent in English.
  • Fluent in Swahili, preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or a minimum of 5+ years of HR experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in recruitment or talent acquisition in East Africa. 
  • Additional HR experience is a plus.
  • Experience managing multiple recruitment projects across different locations.
  • Proven ability to source and engage candidates using digital tools and networks.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project or process management skills.
  • Knowledge of labor laws and hiring practices in Mexico, Honduras, and Peru is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate ideas and feedback constructively. 
  • Home internet bandwidth strong enough to support video conferencing and other job-related responsibilities. 
  • Commitment to ending the global water crisis.
