POSITION OVERVIEW:

Industry Focus: FMCG (Detergents, Soaps, Liquid Cleaners, Chemical Derivatives)

1. Primary Purpose:

To direct and coordinate the daily operations of the manufacturing plant, ensuring maximum efficiency, minimal waste, and superior product quality for liquid and powder detergents. You will lead a multidisciplinary team across Production, Quality, Maintenance, And Supply Chain.

2. Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee daily production of liquid detergents, surfactants, and chemical derivatives (e.g., LABSA, SLES).
  • Process Optimization: Implement Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies to reduce cycle times and improve throughput.
  • Quality Management: Ensure products meet national and international standards (ISO, local health regulations). Monitor batch consistency and "First Pass Yield."
  • Resource Allocation: Manage the plant budget, including raw material procurement, labor costs, and capital expenditures (CAPEX).
  • Maintenance & Engineering: Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of reactors, mixing tanks, filling machines, and spray-drying towers (if applicable).
  • Compliance & Safety: Enforce strict EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) protocols, especially regarding chemical handling and effluent treatment (ETP).

Inventory :Inventory Turnover / Accuracy | Minimizing stock-outs of raw materials and excess finished goods.

Safety: TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate) | Target of Zero LTI (Lost Time Injuries) and 100% safety compliance | Maintenance | Unplanned Downtime Percentage of time the plant is idle due to equipment failure.

Compliance : ETP Compliance | Adherence to environmental standards for chemical waste discharge.

Technical & Professional Requirements

Education:

B.Tech/B.E. in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. An MBA in Operations is highly preferred.

Experience:

20–25+ years in chemical or detergent manufacturing, with at least 10 years in a leadership role.

Expertise:

  • Deep knowledge of Detergent Chemistry (Saponification, Sulfonation, Neutralization).
  • Familiarity with liquid filling and packaging automation.
  • Experience in managing Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP).
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) for production planning.

Pro-Tip for Candidates:

In this specific industry, "Derivatives" often refers to the production of surfactants. Highlighting your experience with large-scale reactors and chemical reactions (exothermic/endothermic) is a significant advantage.
