Role Summary
The Principal of the Vocational Institute will be the academic, administrative as well as the accounting officer of the Institute. He / she will have the responsibility to oversee the day-to-day operations therein and to provide administrative and technical curriculum leadership and guidance in all the Institute’s vocational and training programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the teaching programs and activities of the staff and students to ensure their proper and harmonious implementation.
- Guide, coordinate and determine the educational plans and programs within the limitations set by the education authorities and the Governing Board.
- Responsible for controlling the regularity and proper use of money approved by the Board of Governors
- Be responsible for authorizing any commitments made by the institute
- Control the resources received, held or disposed of by or on account of the Institute
- Put in place effective systems of risk management, internal control and internal audit.
- The Principal shall be the Secretary to the Board of Governors of the Institute
- Ensures proper planning, budgeting and accountability of the institutional activities resources.
- Ensures proper management of institutional funds and ensure their rational utilization and proper safeguard.
- Initiates development projects for the institution and mobilizes resources for their implementation.Plans and chairs meetings of the institution.
- Performs any other duties assigned by the relevant authority.

Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes needed to meet the demands of the role:
- A Bachelors’ Degree in any Engineering, Technical field from a recognized University / Institution.
- A qualification in Technical Teacher / Vocational Instructor training from a recognized University / Institution.
- Registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports.
- A Minimum of five (05) years working experience as a qualified Technical Teacher, at least three (3) of which should have been at the level of Senior Management.
- A sound understanding of the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector
- A good understanding of Vocational Schools and Technical Institutes’ Management
- Knowledge of Academic Governance, Educational Institutional Effectiveness, Higher Educational Institute policies, standards, procedures and practices
Personal attributes:
- Good interpersonal skills, effective verbal and written communication, focused and self-motivated, high integrity and honesty.
- Must be a mature Christian with ability to grow the institute in the Christian faith.
Language
- Person must be able to fluently speak Jopadhola, Atesot and Swahili
