A Packaging line consists of 9 process machines (De-palletizer, Palletizer, Unpacker, Packer, Washer, EBI, Filler, pasteurizer, labeler).
The role requires one (at any one moment) to operate any of the packaging line process machines as per manufacturers stated (standard) operating procedures to produce product that meets stated quality requirements as per the quality standards in a very safe manner, while ensuring high plant reliability, minimal process and component waste.
This is driven with the support of a full time Shift Packaging Manager, and competent asset care and quality teams.
Context
The role involves working a twelve-hour shift (Day and Night); Coordinating operations up and downstream involving logistics, Brewing and contracted supply chain team with different set standards and KPIs.

The company seeks to perform all its activities in ways that prevent environmental pollution and ensure the occupational health and safety of its employees, contractors, suppliers and visitors.
Financial Impact
- Delivery of Plan (>90%) on shift guarantees planned sales volume for the day / week /month
- Contributes to the delivery of Productivity goals for COGs (minimize waste to <1%)
Stakeholders
This role involves close collaboration with:
- Shift Packaging Manager
- Quality analyst
- Packaging Asset Care team
- All Sectional technicians
- Perfect Plant team
- Logistics
Role Responsibilities:
- Ensure safety requirements for self and those working around the machine are rigorously met. This is aimed at achieving zero harm/injury.
- Operate any of the packaging line process machines as per manufacturers stated (standard) operating procedures with the rated Machine Speeds to produce products that meet stated requirements as per the Quality and Food safety standards.
- Carry out basic quality checks through product testing, rectify anomalies and take corrective action. This is aimed at achieving quality index of 100%.
- Perform scheduled autonomous, preventive and corrective maintenance tasks and participate in root cause analysis/5why to ensure targeted plant reliability of about 95%.
- Ensure process and component wastes are below target (<1%).
- To consistently update process records as required by the Quality systems.
- Does on the job training to Interns/Trainees and new recruits.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the team leader or head of function.
Experience / skills required:
- Ordinary Diploma in electrical, mechanical or instrumentation engineering field
- 2 years in a FMCG environment
- Have worked on shift system 24hr [rotational. ]
