Ibero Uganda Ltd. For our group company, Ibero Uganda Limited, we are looking for a Coffee Sourcing Manager.
The position will be based in Kampala, Uganda and reports directly to the Head of Procurement.
Responsibilities or duties
Strategic Procurement Planning:
Collaborate with the Head of Procurement to develop and implement seasonal coffee buying strategies aligned with market trends, crop forecasts, and company goals.
Operational Execution:
Ensure timely procurement of FAQ coffee in required volumes, maintaining quality standards and cost efficiency.
Supplier & Network Management:
Build and manage relationships with suppliers, cooperatives, and buying stations. Monitor performance, compliance, and capacity to meet procurement targets.
Price Setting & Market Intelligence:
Lead the process of purchase price setting in coordination with management, based on market dynamics, crop estimates, and competitor activity.
Crop Analytics & Forecasting:
Drive data collection and analysis on crop yields, quality, and regional performance to inform procurement decisions and strategic planning.
Delivery & Logistics Oversight:
Coordinate with logistics teams and suppliers to ensure smooth and timely delivery of procured coffee to designated warehouses or processing facilities.
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure all procurement activities adhere to internal policies and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate records and audit trails.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Proficient in English and any other local languages.
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field.
- Proven experience in coffee sourcing, with strong knowledge of both Robusta and Arabica varieties.
- Demonstrated ability to work in remote and rural environments; mobile and flexible to field-based operations.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build trust and rapport with suppliers and partners.
- Proficiency in local languages and cultural fluency in coffee-growing regions.
- Analytical mindset with experience in crop forecasting, market analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
- High level of integrity, ownership, and accountability in managing procurement processes.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with procurement systems and basic financial principles is an added advantage.
- High level of personal integrity and empathy.
- Attention to Detail
- High resilience, reliability as well as ability to manage deadlines.
