The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is a limited liability company incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act. UEDCL owns the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution networks. The company sales and distributes electricity in Uganda as per ERA License issued on 31 December 2024 covering over 135 political districts, operates a modern pole plant at Lugogo, and executes key rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Government of Uganda.
UEDCL is seeking to recruit qualified, competent and highly motivated Ugandans to fill the following positions;
The Regional Stores Officer is fully accountable for the management of a territory warehouse and all subordinate area stores within the territory. The role is responsible for the receipt of materials from the central store, issuance of materials to area stores and end users, accurate stock management, and compliance with all inventory policies and procedures. The Regional Stores Officer ensures stock accuracy across the entire territory, manages area stores officers within the territory, and prepares consumption and performance reports to the Regional Stores Manager.
Responsibilities or duties
Territory Warehouse Management
- Take full charge and accountability for the management of the territory/regional warehouse.
- Ensure the warehouse is well maintained, secure, and managed in accordance with company standards.
- Maintain optimal stock levels within the territory warehouse at all times.
- Ensure the warehouse environment is safe, organized, and compliant with health and safety requirements.
Materials Receipt & Issuance
- Receive materials from the central store and ensure accurate recording of all incoming stock in the SAP system.
- Issue materials to area stores within the territory in accordance with approved distribution plans.
- Issue materials directly to end users where required, ensuring all transactions are accurately processed.
- Ensure all receipts and issuances are supported by the correct documentation and system entries.
Stock Accuracy & Stock Takes
- Conduct daily stock counts to monitor and maintain stock accuracy within the territory warehouse.
- Lead and coordinate monthly mandatory stock takes across the territory warehouse and all subordinate area stores.
- Lead and coordinate end of year mandatory stock takes across the territory.
- Investigate and reconcile variances between physical stock and book stock, escalating material discrepancies to the Regional Stores Manager.
- Maintain full accountability for stock accuracy across the territory warehouse and all subordinate area stores.
Consumption & Performance Reporting
- Prepare and submit regular consumption reports to the Regional Stores Manager.
- Monitor and report on stock movement, consumption trends, and inventory performance within the territory.
- Identify and report on any stock anomalies, shortages, or surpluses.
Area Stores Management & Team Leadership
- Oversee and manage Area Stores Officers within the territory.
- Set performance expectations for Area Stores Officers and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and on-the-job support to Area Stores Officers.
- Ensure Area Stores Officers comply with all inventory policies, procedures, and system requirements.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with company inventory management policies and procedures across the territory.
- Monitor SAP system usage and transactional accuracy within the territory warehouse and area stores.
- Identify process gaps and risks within territory operations and advise the Regional Stores Manager accordingly.
- Maintain a risk-alert approach to inventory management and proactively flag concerns.
Territorial Engagement
- Participate in territorial activities and attend relevant briefings as required.
- Represent the Inventory and Stores Section professionally in all territorial engagements.
Any Other Duties
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Regional Stores Manager or Head of Inventory and Stores.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Quantitative Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain Management is an added advantage.
Experience needed
Required Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the electricity distribution sector.
- Experience running a territory or regional warehouse is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise resource planning systems, specifically SAP.
Key Competencies
- SAP proficiency with strong working knowledge of inventory and materials management modules.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for stock management, reporting, and data analysis.
- Good written and verbal communication skills with ability to prepare clear reports.
- Strong coordination skills with ability to work effectively within a large team and across functional areas.
- Ability to work in cross-functional environments and engage diverse stakeholders.
- Risk-alert mindset with ability to identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
- Service-oriented attitude with willingness to go beyond standard working hours when operational demands require.
- Strong sense of accountability and ownership over stock accuracy and warehouse performance.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in stock management and system transactions.
- Leadership and people management skills with ability to supervise and develop Area Stores Officers.
