Job Purpose:
To grow insurance revenue and achieve annual budget targets by developing assigned markets and channels, primarily focusing on the banking and microfinance institutions segment as a key source of profitable business. The role requires building and maintaining strong relationships and partnerships that drive sustainable business growth.
Duty Station: Kampala
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Build strong, strategic partnerships and relationships within banks and microfinance institutions.
- Support various intermediaries in revenue generation activities within the banking channel.
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct consumer education sessions and internal staff training within the banks.
- Drive acquisition of profitable business (both new and renewal) to meet set targets.
- Identify and recommend tailored insurance solutions to meet the needs of bank clients.
- Champion the delivery of excellent customer service across all partner banks.
- Ensure timely invoicing and collection of premiums from bank-related business.
- Coordinate with internal support departments to resolve client queries and complaints promptly.
- Conduct regular market intelligence gathering and provide reports on industry trends, competitor activity, and product positioning.
- Prepare and deliver quotations, proposals, and tender documentation in a timely and professional manner.
- Recruit, train, motivate, and retain teams for continuous business growth.
- Coach, mentor, and conduct performance appraisals for team members under supervision.
- Actively participate in departmental planning and budgeting processes.
- Represent the company in meetings, committees, and industry forums as required.
- Promote and enhance the CIC brand image in the banking and financial services segment.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with intermediaries and other key stakeholders.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management in line with the role.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution
- A master’s Degree in a business-related field is an added advantage.
Professional Qualifications:
- Diploma in Insurance
- Relevant professional certifications such as ACII, ACIM, or MCIM is an added advantage.
Key Competencies:
- Strong business development and negotiation skills
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Strategic thinking and planning ability
- Strong customer focus and problem-solving ability
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Knowledge of bancassurance models and financial institutions’ operations
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
