ABOUT EACOP

EACOP is a 1,443km crude oil export pipeline that will transport Uganda’s crude oil from Kabaale – Hoima in Uganda to the Chongoleani peninsula near Tanga port in Tanzania.

Worley will support EACOP partners led by international French company TotalEnergies, through the execution and delivery of the project.

JOB BRIEF/DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Brief

The QC Advisor for Coating & Insulation will report functionally to the Construction QC Supervisor and on a day-to day basis to the nominated delivery manager. The Advisor for Coating & Insulation will be responsible for coordinating all EPCM Vendor Construction Contractors for Coating & Insulation quality issues. The post will support the Company Contractor with technical issues and support Construction QC Supervisor with Coating & Insulation issues.

Role and Responsibilities

The Advisor Coating will also be responsible for providing surveillance of assigned Company Contractor by:

  • Monitoring checks of CONTRACTOR inspection equipment calibration compliance and validity
  • Monitoring of site coating works to review compliance to application procedures & specifications
  • Monitoring of site insulation works to review compliance to application procedures & specifications
  • Performing EPcmC surveillance and monitoring of construction work
  • Performing/witnessing quality inspections
  • Ensuring ITP’s and referenced procedures are adhered to
  • Validation of COMPANY CONTRACTOR test results
  • Signing off on relevant intervention points on ITP’s
  • Liaising with relevant Quality Leads on status/progress/non-conforming actions/tests/materials
  • Filing relevant records and compiling daily reports
  • Facilitating the COMPANY CONTRACTOR’s management of any detected nonconformance

REQUIRED

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • QC Coating Advisors shall be certified to the equivalent of BGAS/CSWIP Grade II, NACE Level II or SSPC and ICORR Level II as a minimum
  • 3-5 years of coating/insulation inspection related working experience in the oil & gas sector
  • 5 years’ proven work experience as QA/QC coating/insulation supervisor or coating/insulation quality engineer in the oil & gas sector
  • Only candidates holding local nationality for the work location will be considered.

Required Competencies

  • Knowledge and competency within the applicable discipline certification framework, such as BGAS/NACE/AMPP/ICorr./SSPC/IOGS/NIA Inspection requirements and certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge inspecting mechanical cladding and thermal insulation installations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of atmospheric conditions, dewpoint, blast profiles, WFT, DFT measurements
  • Demonstrated knowledge reviewing and verifying the validity of equipment calibration compliance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of coating faults and causes of corrosion under insulation (CUI)
  • General knowledge of holiday testing for coatings on buried pipelines and in-line equipment
  • Demonstrated communication skills including the ability to articulate coating and insulation concerns and solutions with teams consisting of individuals with various technical and educational backgrounds.
  • Experience with multi-national contractors, in particular those involved in the construction of pipelines projects would be an advantage
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Ability to use MS Office (word, excel, Outlook, Power point) competently
  • Understanding of Time / Distance planning programs
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of safety awareness
