Job Summary:
As a Warehouse and Logistics Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all warehouse operations and logistics activities to ensure the efficient and timely flow of goods and materials. Your primary goal is to maintain a well-organised and productive warehouse while implementing best practices to optimise logistics processes. You will lead a team of warehouse workers and collaborate with other departments to achieve the company's operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead the warehouse team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure a high level of productivity and safety.
- Develop and implement different policies relevant to Warehouse management including Health and Safety Guidelines, Inventory management policy, quality control policy, receiving and shipping policy, Warehouse layout and organisation policy to mention but a few.
- Plan and execute daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, packing, and shipping of goods.
- Implement and maintain efficient warehouse layout and organisation to optimise space utilisation and streamline material flow.
- Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular stock checks to ensure accurate record-keeping and prevent stock outs or overstock situations.
- Collaborate with purchasing and sales departments to forecast demand and plan for inventory replenishment.
- Oversee the handling and storage of hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.
- Evaluate and select appropriate transportation methods, carriers, and logistics providers to meet delivery deadlines and cost-effectiveness.
- Monitor transportation routes and optimise them for fuel efficiency and timely deliveries.
- Implement and enforce health and safety standards in the warehouse, promoting a safe working environment for all employees.
- Maintain accurate records of warehouse activities, including inventory levels, incoming and outgoing shipments, and performance metrics.
- Continuously identify areas for improvement in warehouse and logistics processes and implement process enhancements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to warehouse operations and logistics promptly.
- Prepare regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to warehouse and logistics operations and present them to management.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- On-time delivery performance.
- Inventory accuracy and stock level maintenance.
- Warehouse productivity (e.g., order fulfilment rate, pick and pack accuracy).
- Transportation cost per unit shipped.
- Safety incident rate and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Warehouse capacity utilisation.
- Timeliness and accuracy of inventory tracking and reporting.
- Customer satisfaction related to logistics and delivery performance.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field is preferred. Relevant work experience in warehouse management and logistics can be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proven experience as a warehouse supervisor or a similar role in logistics management.
- Solid knowledge of warehouse and inventory management best practices.
- Familiarity with logistics and transportation procedures, including carrier selection and freight forwarding.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and use it to improve warehouse and logistics processes.
- Proficiency in using warehouse management software and inventory tracking systems.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations within a warehouse environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
- Problem-solving skills to address operational challenges and find innovative solutions.
