PATH is currently recruiting for a Program Advisor to lead a portfolio of vaccine immunology, correlates of protection, vaccine discovery and vaccine development projects.

PATH’s Center for Vaccine Innovation and Access brings together our expertise across every stage of the long and complex process of vaccine research, development, and delivery to make lifesaving vaccines widely available to children and communities across the world. CVIA’s current portfolio encompasses more than two dozen vaccines either in development or already in use to protect against 15 different diseases. Our focus is on vaccines to address the leading diseases that claim children’s lives worldwide: pneumonia, diarrheal disease, and malaria; as well as other global health priorities, such as polio, meningitis and SARS-CoV-2. We work in partnership with national health ministries, pharmaceutical manufacturers, donors, international financing and regulatory organizations, and many others. PATH has led numerous global partnerships, including the award-winning Meningitis Vaccine Project and the Malaria Vaccine Initiative, which helped develop the first malaria vaccine candidate recommended for pilot implementation.
CVIA’s catalyzes the development and introduction of safe and effective malaria vaccines and monoclonal antibodies by identifying potentially promising candidates, establishing partnerships to move candidates through the development process, and overcoming barriers to access to ensure impact in the communities that need it most.

Responsibilities:
• Develop strategies and advocate for the advancement of multi-disciplinary programs in understanding vaccine immunology with the overall goal of accelerating the discovery and development of vaccines for major unmet medical needs relevant to the CVIA mission.
• Lead preclinical and clinical and clinical-stage project subteams focused on malaria vaccine immunology and correlates of protection, including associated with the RTS,S vaccine currently undergoing pilot implementation.
• Serve as immunology/correlates lead on project teams, ensuring effective integration of work from subteam is aligned and integrated with overall project goal.
• Partner to apply learnings from malaria vaccine immunology efforts to accelerate the discovery and development of next generation vaccines.
• Lead preclinical and/or clinical stage project subteams vaccine immunology and correlates of protection projects associated with other priority diseases, as needed (e.g. rotavirus).
• Identify partners to deploy and implement innovative technologies.
• Partner on contract and budget negotiations for subcontracted projects.
• Serve as primary relationship manager for partnered projects.
• Interface with donor organizations on correlates of protection efforts, including via leveraging of core services supported by other donors.
• Collaborate with partners to assure projects obtain results of the greatest relevance and highest quality data.
• Lead on the dissemination of key findings, including via peer reviewed publications and conference presentations.
• Identify and obtain funding from external sources, including via competitive grant/contract submissions.
• Develop and lead multi-functional CVIA project teams.
• Develop CVIA staff for the advancement of the above responsibilities.

Required Experience
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in vaccine R&D.
• PhD or MD or equivalent education and experience.
• Demonstrated ability to complete complex projects and partnerships.
• Ability to work within a matrix environment by forming and leading team.

Must have legal authorization to work in the country of application.
