Job Title: Merchant Recruitment Executive

Department: Money Services

Location: Kampala

Reporting to: Merchant Acquisition Manager

Purpose of the Job (Brief):

The role holder will be responsible for merchant acquisition, relationship management, and implementing the overall merchant strategy across all Multi-National & Local Corporate companies, Point of Sale terminals, and Point of Sale software providers to scale up footprint and reach.

Deliverables (Key Responsibilities):

Merchants Acquisition – MNCs, Local Corporates & POS: Deliver exceptional sales performance by identifying local companies to drive the merchant business. Take ownership and achieve daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual targets within the assigned segment. Identify potential prospects, conduct physical visits, and deliver pitches to ensure closure. Ensure KYC due diligence of all prospects for compliance before tie-ups and follow through on contract closure.

Merchant Training & Relationship Management: Responsible for training all tied-up merchants, including both owners and business handlers. Manage relationships with appointed merchants to ensure business growth and compliance adherence. Conduct refresher trainings on key business developments, especially when merchant handlers change.

Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with third-party providers to identify sales leads within the assigned segment and ensure closure. Identify service gaps and escalate to support teams for corrective action.

Revenue Growth & Business Review: Ensure that all set-up merchant outlets across the country are active and operational. Establish collaborative relationships with all tied-up partners to ensure business efficiency. Set clear sales objectives and value propositions for all merchant prospects. Work with the Team Leader to ensure performance tracking and timely reports for individual merchants. Ensure that all appointed merchants are well-branded and products are fully merchandised.

Requirements

Decision Level:

The role holder is accountable for final decision-making within their remit. They share some decisions jointly with peers and may contribute to policy or strategic decisions made by others.

Key Competencies:

Education & Skill: Minimum Diploma or equivalent.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to form effective working relationships.
  • Energetic and willing to spend 8–10 hours in the field.
  • Well-groomed and presentable.
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly.
  • Result-oriented with strong execution and selling skills.

Educational Level:

Diploma or its equivalent.

Working Experience:

No prior experience required.
