The Uganda Biodiversity Trust Fund (UBF) is an independent, not-for-profit conservation financing institution established to provide sustainable, long-term financing for biodiversity conservation in Uganda. UBF works with government, civil society, private sector and international partners to protect Uganda's rich natural heritage through innovative financing mechanisms, grants management, and strategic conservation programmes.
About the Role
UBF is seeking a results-oriented, strategic, and experienced Finance and Administration Manager to lead its financial and administrative functions. The successful candidate will provide visionary leadership in financial management, administration, human resources, procurement and compliance, ensuring that UBF operates efficiently, transparently in line with international financial reporting standards and national laws.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration (Accounting), or a related field. Membership in a professional accounting body (e.g. ACCA, CPA, CIMA).
- A Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting is required.
- At least 10 years of relevant professional experience, including five years in a senior management role with a reputable NGO or institution.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial management, budgeting, and donor contract management.
- Hands-on experience with computerized financial accounting systems.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply financial policies and international standards.

- Strong leadership, analytical, and strategic planning skills.
- Excellent budgeting, financial forecasting and reporting abilities.
- Advanced knowledge of donor compliance and grants management.
- Proficiency in SUN system accounting software and MS Office applications.

- High integrity, confidentiality, and commitment to organizational values.
- Ability to foster teamwork and mentor staff for professional growth.
- Provide strategic leadership in financial planning, budgeting and policy development.
- Oversee the implementation of robust financial management and internal control systems.
- Ensure compliance with UBF policies, donor requirements and statutory obligations.
- Approve expenditures, authorize payments and ensure proper financial reporting.
- Lead the preparation of financial statements and coordinate both internal and external audits.
- Offer technical advice to the Executive Director and management on financial strategy, risk management and optimal resource utilization.
- Oversee grants and contract management, ensuring accountability to donors and partners.
- Manage administration, procurement, fleet and security functions in line with UBF standards.
- Lead the Finance and Administration team, fostering a culture of accountability, learning and continuous improvement.
- Represent UBF in board committees and contribute to strategic decision-making processes.
- Support fundraising and resource mobilization for sustainable biodiversity financing.
