JOB PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Technical Specialist - UPG, the Branch Coordinator will oversee UPG project operations at the branch level. S/he will train, mentor, and supervise Project Officers to plan and implement project activities, ensuring household’s progress toward sustainable graduation from poverty. The role requires field engagement, community mobilization, technical support in livelihoods, crops, and assets, and collaboration with technical coordinators, partners, and local authorities. The Branch Coordinator will also lead partnerships, advocacy, and stakeholder coordination at the district and sub-county levels to strengthen project visibility, integration, and sustainability. The role ensures quality service delivery, strong staff performance, financial and administrative compliance, effective stakeholder engagement, and the progressive achievement of graduation outcomes for targeted households within the branch.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead branch-level planning, implementation, and supervision of UPG activities in line with project objectives, timelines, and standards.
Develop branch work plans with SMART targets, aligned to regional plans and technical priorities.
Ensure efficient and accountable use of organizational resources (vehicles, funds, equipment, inputs).
Support integration of critical technical components (crop, livestock, livelihoods, and financial inclusion) at the branch level.
Conduct regular coaching, mentoring, and performance appraisals for Project Officers.
Provide ongoing capacity building for staff and participants on UPG methodology, VSLA, life skills, livelihood techniques, gender inclusion, and disability awareness
Oversee household targeting, validation, and onboarding to ensure inclusion of the most vulnerable.
Participate in the final selection of participant households, ensuring adherence to standard project guidelines and tools.
Oversee project staff in guiding participants to select viable and appropriate Income Generating.
Plan activities (IGAs) that align with local market demand, household capacity, and project guideline
Supervise coaching by Project Officers and Community-Based Trainers (CBTs) through home visits.
Support establishment and supervision of VSLAs, ensuring linkages with financial institutions.
Chair and coordinate the local branch procurement committee to ensure quality procurement and distribution of livestock/assets.
Conduct quality monitoring, field visits, and spot checks to assess program implementation.
Ensure high-quality delivery of all project activities, including asset transfers, coaching, and training.
Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, government departments, NGOs, CBOs, and other service providers
SAFEGUARDING ROLES
- Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the program’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
- Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness/agriculture/Animal production/Development studies/ Business administration/ Social sciences/ a post graduate diploma in related fields is an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
4+ years’ experience in developmental community mobilization handling components similar to ultra poor graduation, livelihood, asset management training with knowledge about animal and crop husbandry in a supervisory role in a reputable organization, preferably in an NGO setting
