Job Purpose: The Legal Officer will be responsible for handling drafting of legal documents, legal research, contract review, legal advice to departments and litigation.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drafting Legal documents including contracts, agreements, letters and memorandum of understanding with various stakeholders.
- Conducting legal research.
- Taking minutes of selected meetings.
- Provide timely and accurate information to support the drafting of legal
- Participate in the review of legal and policy frameworks pertaining to the organisation and recommend appropriate amendments.
- Participate in the preparation and review of court documents for civil
suits/litigation.
- Participate in the preparation of quarterly performance reports.
- Assist in the preparation, review, negotiation, execution and registration of
contracts and other legal documents on behalf of the organisation.
- Compile registers of all legal documents including Agreements, signed contracts etc.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisors and Management.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from a recognized University plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre.
- Applicants MUST hold a valid practicing certificate (2025).
- At least two years’ experience of legal practice in a reputable organisation or firm.
- Membership with both the Uganda Law Society and East African Law Society.
- Knowledge of relevant national and regional legal frameworks.

- Effective presentation and communication skills.
- Interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Possess the ability to work under minimum supervision
- Proven Integrity, Service ethics and Credibility
- The applicant must be a team player
